Narrative of the numbers

“In God we trust, all others bring data.” — W. Edwards Deming

Data is the new oil in this information age. Each one of us has experienced the power of data in one way or the other .For corporations, data is an obsession, For governments it’s their tool for  narration ,For laymen like you and me it’s spam call ‘entertainment’ where companies play with our data …

Are we behind data ? Or data is behind us ? If you are in sales it’s target ,if you are in support, it’s ticket ..if politician, then electoral rolls.if business man, then balancesheet…If trump , it’s trade deficit 🙂

A Company that makes 100 calls a day and getting 10 leads out of it ,projects a promising growth on it’s sales . Does this data take 90 frustrated moments of people into account?

In the run upto selling product to meet the target, resourses are forced to make false promises leading to ultimate fall at the end .Does superficial targets really help boosting sales ?

People being proud of infrastructure should ask themselves if data on falling bridges and buildings every year being accounted in it ?

Last but not the least, Elephant in the room question – does decisions being taken by “powerful man on earth” – to balance trade deficit ,Actually balances ?

“Numbers tells it all ” …” Data don’t lie” … Yes …these often quoted lines about data are true…But data/ numbers doesn’t answer or provide solution . Rather the question behind the data will ! For Each question ,you get stories as answers!

In the world flooded with misinformation, it’s okay to slow down our run behind future prediction and mere data driven decisions … Remember  numbers could be interpreted to fit any narration… Take a pause before sharing your data randomly..

Let the numbers speak the truth…

But the stories behind back our track !”
